Whenever someone asks you what you do for a living and you say “I’m an Artist”, have you ever wondered why you get such a strange look from them.
I have found that they mainly feel this way because they think that you could not be serious in thinking that you can actually survive by selling art. After I began taking my art seriously I found that a big part of it has to do with getting your name out there. I struggled to do so because I kept comparing myself to others and felt like my work did not measure up to what I was producing. It took me some time to gain confidence in my work and to know that comparing myself to others was the worse thing that I could ever do. Now when I am asked about my art, I have learned to be proud of myself when I tell others that I am an artist. I have learned to own what I do and never second guess myself. I would also say to up and coming artist to be confident and proud of what you do.
